DM Favourite Places - Great Fosters

Nestled in the heart of Surrey, Great Fosters boasts over four centuries of fascinating history. The hotel is home to many unique features that reflect its rich history, including an original royal crest of Queen Elizabeth I that can be found above the main porch, dating back to 1598.

In its time, the hotel has played host to an eclectic array of guests, including the likes of Orson Welles and Charlie Chaplin.

In 1930, Sir Harold Sutcliffe bought Great Fosters, and following a period of careful restoration and refurbishment, Great Fosters became a hotel. The newly established hotel quickly gained a reputation as a premier destination. This status was secured when Queen Mary visited in 1931 and subsequently the Ascot Ball was held at the hotel in the June of that year.

DM's Favourite Places - Wotton House Hotel

Wotton House Hotel

The Estate dates back to the 16th Century, when it was sold by Henry Owen to the Evelyn family. John Evelyn, one of three sons of Richard Evelyn, was passionate about botanicals and arboriculture and was particularly spellbound by the Italian Renaissance gardens he had seen on his tour of Italy. Inspired by what he had discovered on his travels, on his return to Wotton he constructed an Italian garden and temple, designed by his cousin, Captain George Evelyn, which was soon joined by a parterre garden complete with an Italian fountain.

Since this time, the estate has been passed through the Evelyn family, who have all been passionate about preserving John’s legacy, whilst adding their own eccentricities to the estate. Not so long ago, you may have even discovered Kangaroos on the lawn.

We were home to the Canadian Army during the Second World War and in 1947 it became a fire training centre for The Home Office. Soon afterwards, the house became the national Fire Service College.

Today, our house is a home from home; a place where you will create unforgettable memories that will stay with you long after you leave.

Amy & Jason | the Lismoyne Hotel | Fleet Wedding Photographer

It’s always a good day at the DM Photography office when the plan for a wedding day starts with “breakfast at Côte Brasserie”, and then follows with a beautiful traditional church service. It’s also a good day when we’re greeted by people so kind, caring and thoughtful as Amy and Jason. Every minute of their wedding was a joy to be a part of, and it really did feel like a day where nothing could dampen their spirits!

With Amy being driven to the church in her father’s very own Morris Minor, in, what one might call a torrential downpour, and still getting out and heading into see Jason absolutely beaming from ear to ear, you can’t really help but be infected by their happiness!

Along with a reception at The Lismoyne Hotel, Fleet, we ventured out to the woodlands of Fleet pond, capturing some really beautiful images of Amy and Jason in the soft golden light, dappled by the forest and helping us craft these photos for them.

Thank you for having us their to capture your special day, it really was a joy!

Lewis - What we've been up to - Lockdown 3.0

Lewis, Jess, Harry & Lottie have been trying to enjoy another lockdown as much as possible. Lots of running around after the animals who have totally taken over the house, we just pay the mortgage!

Lottie has learned a couple new tricks! Such as putting her toys away after making the house a mess with them. (Haha)

Harry has himself a new perch up high to keep him away from Lottie who forever wants to play!

Jess has got herself a promotion! Through loads of hard work and long hours. She is now moving into a marketing role with KFC.

Lewis has turned 34, become a house husband! (Haha again) - However, Dan has taught Lewis how to fish! Caught his first Pike!

We all enjoyed the SNOW!

Robert & Laura | West Sussex Wedding

Robert & Laura’s wedding, again, a very intimate and cozy covid wedding, was still a beautiful one. Starting the day in their parent’s homes to get ready. Robert certainly had the amazing ride down to Chichester in convoy with all the family motorcycles.

Chichester registry office looked lovely inside and out, and proved great to capture the group photos outside. It became even better once we ventured off around Chichester cathedral and the gardens surrounding for some stunning imagery. Please enjoy the photos below, and if you ever do get married in the area, this location is absolutely perfect to capture it.

Gina & Rob’s wedding was beautiful inside and out. A stunning church to shoot in, and we then proceeded to head over to Frencham pond, where we got some absolutely beautiful photos of them both. The woods were lovely, and Gina & Rob turned quite a few heads as we all wondered through them.

Our next visit was over at Waverley Abbey ruins for a few posed shots. Always love coming here and look forward to shooting another couple here soon.

Sian & Joe | Berkshire Wedding

Despite a very wet start to the day. The weather held out for Sian & Joe’s ceremony and after photos. We had a fantastic time meeting everyone and it was a stunning church to shoot in. It was Sian’s idea to head toward The Thames River to shoot some couple photos and what an amazing idea it was! Even though we almost lost Dan’s camera bag! (Thankfully the Father of the Bride picked it up)

We then got incredibly lucky with a barge passing by just to give it that extra wow factor :)

Congratulations to you both!

Megan & Gavin | Highfield Park | Hampshire Wedding

Megan & Gavin’s wedding was such a lovely day! Starting the day out with some beautiful sunshine, allowing you to even forget we’re still doing lock-down weddings. All the groomsmen and bridesmaids had a huge amount of fun and a few laughs before heading to the church at Highfield Park.

Despite a chilly church, the amount of love Megan and Gavin shared for each other kept everyone warm. With a nice little crowd gathering outside due to the rule of 15, they celebrated right after the ceremony perfectly. Even though Highfield Park was booked out for a private event, they still allowed us to use areas of the grounds for photos.
